Karunguruvai Health Mix (Sathu Maavu) — the traditional Tamil multigrain porridge powder, built on our own Karunguruvai rice with millets, pulses and nuts. Every ingredient is washed, sun-dried and roasted separately — each one has a different roast point — then cooled completely and milled together.
Key Benefits
- A traditional Tamil multigrain blend of millets, cereals, pulses and nuts. Nothing artificial.
- Contributes protein, dietary fibre, calcium and iron to a mixed daily diet.
- Each grain roasted separately, then milled — no maida, no added sugar, no preservative.
- A genuine pulse and nut ratio, not 75% grain flour with a token sprinkle of the rest.
- Ready in under five minutes and suitable for the whole family from one year upwards.

How to Prepare
- Sweet, for a child: whisk 2 tbsp powder into 50 ml cold water until lump-free, add 150 ml hot milk while stirring, simmer 3–4 minutes, then sweeten with powdered jaggery off the heat
- Savoury, for adults: cook the same way in water, then whisk in buttermilk, salt, chopped shallots and curry leaf
- Fold 2 tbsp into dosa or idli batter
- Stir into adai batter or pancakes
- Use to thicken soups, or bind into laddu
Storage Instructions
- Airtight container in a cool, dry place. Best quality within 3 months at Chennai temperatures.
- Refrigerate to extend to around six months. The 6–9% fat from groundnut, cashew and almond is what limits shelf life — nut-rich sathu maavu turns before plain millet flour does.
- Always use a completely dry spoon.
- Keep the lid tight; the powder is hygroscopic and will cake if moisture gets in.
- Discard if it smells bitter or musty.

Frequently Asked Questions
From what age can I give this to my child?
Generally from one year, as a thin porridge. For infants under one, please consult your paediatrician — we do not sell this as an infant food.
Do I need to roast the powder before use?
No. Every ingredient is already roasted and milled. Just cook it for 3–4 minutes so the porridge thickens.
It formed lumps. What did I do wrong?
Always make a paste with cold water first, then add the hot liquid. Never tip the powder into boiling milk.
