Storage Instructions
- Do not refrigerate unripe bananas. Below about 13°C the peel blackens and ripening stops permanently.
- Room temperature: green fruit ripens in 2–4 days; fully ripe fruit holds 2–3 days.
- Hang on a hook, out of direct sun and away from the stove.
- Once fully ripe, the fridge buys 3–5 extra days — the peel will darken but the flesh stays sound.
- Peeled and frozen in an airtight box: 2–3 months for smoothies.
- Wrapping the crown in cling film slows ripening by a day or two.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are these more expensive than the bananas on my street corner?
They are grown without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertiliser and ripened naturally rather than with carbide. Organic bananas also yield less per acre, so the farm price is higher.
My bananas arrived slightly green. Is that a problem?
No — it is intentional. Naturally ripened fruit is dispatched at the right stage so it reaches full sweetness at your home in 1–3 days. Keep it at room temperature, out of the fridge, until the skin is fully yellow.
Can I keep bananas in the fridge?
Only once they are fully ripe. Refrigerating unripe bananas stops them ripening for good. Once ripe, the fridge buys you 3–5 more days — the skin darkens but the fruit inside is fine.
How do I know these were not ripened with carbide?
Carbide-ripened fruit has a uniformly bright skin with hard, bland flesh and little aroma. Ours ripen unevenly and smell sweet at the stalk. Calcium carbide ripening is prohibited in India under Regulation 2.3.5.
